PAR 11 Host: Steven Schwartz

This article made me think about the communication audit that we are working on for this class. Interesting to see that according to a survey two-thirds of the of the individuals that responded believe self-service data helps reveal valuable insights. The critical point made stated that “it’s the power of connecting all your people”. In a way it is all about making connections and keeping people engaged in an organization, which is what this class is about.

I felt that this was a good article you choose for this week, especially when we're working on our communication audits. It was interesting to read that business intelligence programs are a lot more likely to place analysis and decision-making solutions in the hands of the business users themselves. When you think about it though it's because they know what they need and can study that data better than anyone other than them. At the bottom of the article it noted that data literacy is being a must have skill. This is especially true in organizations that need to communicate to each other based on data streams.

Thank you for providing a great article this week! I though this was a very fresh topic that provided new and up to date information about business intelligence. I like how the article stated that data analysis is now a must have skill in the business world. I agree with statement I think that it is so important to be able to conduct research and use data effectively while implementing to ideas and tactics to increase the success of an organization.

You never know about an organization until you do your research. You as an organization might not know if a product will work until you pull all of those that do the job. Great article for our Communication Audit. Taking a survey to get others opinions is what makes an organization to be successful. You need to have as much input from those that do the job so, you know if this business intelligence (BI) program will be successful. The article is correct, that business people know their business better than anyone.

This is a great article that is looking into the business intelligence systems. I like the idea of having a self-service data. It would help those that are doing the job to look at what others are analyzing, and by looking at the data themselves they can change what they think needs to be changed in order to be successful. I also like that another one of the key findings for self-service data is visualization software. This really relates to myself, because I like to see the numbers for the data, so I can create a visualization of what I would then think needs to be changed. The article even states that 73% of respondents say that data visualization is strategic. By showing that data, I think that would be a great way to boost business intelligence.

Steven, great connection between the article and the class material. I think that this article was closely connected with the section that we read about knowledge management. The business intelligence systems are the best way to do a self-audit, which is something that we are doing within my company to make sure that everyone is doing their part to make the company run like a well-oiled machine.

This was a great article and very relevant to what we are learning about in this class. I definitely agree with what this article is saying. It is frustrating to be working in an organization that does not seek input from the people that use the information system. It would be very nice to be more involved with the processes and would also be nice to feel like your voice is being heard.

This article rings so true with large organizations today looking to remove the red tape involved with bureaucracy hierarchy structures where bottlenecks in communication occur due to relying on other people too often. The self service model i believe also empowers an individual to own their own decisions and strive for production to validate that their decision is the right decision.

You picked a great article! It helped me to look at your final project in a different way. One of the best ways too improve a business or an organization is to self reflect. But not just your self. If everyone takes a step back and looks at what is happening, everyone will learn more about the business or organization. If you know what the employees want and would like to see change, you can grow and keep everyone happy. An idea that is kind of growing for me off this article is that i could interview members of VCAB. I am in a different position however, I am the president so i cant really interview myself, but i can self reflect just like this article spoke about. I want to look deeper into VCAB, and interviewing people will help a lot.
